Die Rolle – Science and Power in Reforms of State Forest Organizations in Eastern Europe

This DFG-project (“Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft”, ) is focusing on the role of science-based solutions for the reforms of State Forest Organisations.

To specify the factors of scientific knowledge transfer our project combines the 3L Model (3 Layer Model of  performance evaluation) with the RIU Model (Research-Integration-Utilization model of knowledge transfer) in order to reveal (1) an extent to which the State Forest Organizations´ reforms in selected case countries were science-based, i.e. if and how novel, scientific solutions were incorporated into reform solutions of national and international actors and to what extent these solutions were implemented in praxis; (2) which powerful (national and/or international) actors engineered science-based reforms since 2000 and how.

Analysis is based on the empirical-analytical approach of the social science and relies on the qualitative study design, supplemented with quantitative data.
