Branding und Packaging-Design

Prof. Nicole Simon studied "Visual Communication" at the FH Hildesheim/Holzminden/Göttingen. She then worked as a freelance graphic designer in Hamburg in the areas of corporate communications and brand management, specialising in packaging design. In 1999, she accepted a teaching assignment for "Packaging Design" at the HAWK Faculty of Design. In 2004 she was appointed to this professorship with a half position. Since then she has carried out various cooperation and competition projects with students. Some keywords are: "Fagus-Grecon" - world cultural monument, "Lavera" - natural cosmetics, Arved Löseke - paper processing since 1883, Lower Saxony police,
"Hi-Land" - from market product to brand profile, nominated for the German Packaging Award 2009, STI Award, research project "ADC Fieldwork", "Kao" - the world's leading manufacturer of hair care products and the presentation of the German Packaging Award 2015 - in the category young talent.

Since July 2013, she has been head of the Brüder-Grimm Berufsakademie (BGBA) in Hanau, which was only founded in 2012 and offers two dual design courses for the creative industries. Here, she attaches particular importance to 'quality assurance in teaching', as this is the most sustainable asset for a private educational provider in the tertiary sector.
In 2015, she developed the curriculum for the third dual and training-integrated Bachelor's programme 'Innovation Management' of the BGBA, which was accredited by the ZEvA at the beginning of 2016. Here, training as an industrial business management assistant is integrated into the course.

Nicole Simon teaches the Bachelor modules "Packaging Design 1- Brand Basics" and "Project Development Packaging Design 2" at the Faculty of Design at HAWK. She also supervises practical projects, Bachelor and Master theses. In the Master's program she teaches the module "Integrative Project 1+2", among others. Furthermore, she is a member of the Assessment Commission for Bachelor and Master. At the BGBA in Hanau, she teaches the modules "Corporate Identity", "Orientation Course Design" and "Presentation Concept" and has taken over the direction of the course of studies for design management and product design.
