Interdisciplinary educational situation

The complementary fields of competence in the Faculty of Design give students a comprehensive understanding of related subject areas. Interdisciplinary project work and joint courses allow students to set their own individual priorities.

As an extension of a bachelor's degree program, the artistic, scientific Master of Arts offers a wide range of opportunities for students.

Our laboratories, workshops, and studios are well equipped and enable you to study in a modern environment. We place particular emphasis on providing you with individual support: you will receive intensive guidance from the teaching staff and employees at our faculty.

In this way, we teach you theory and practice and prepare you comprehensively for working life.

As a faculty, we can look back on almost 200 years of history.

The opening of the Hildesheim School of Arts and Crafts in 1831 laid the foundation. It developed into a master craftsman school and later into a school of applied arts, before being transferred to the communication and product design departments of the university of applied sciences in 1971.

Later, both departments were merged to form the Faculty of Design, which now offers Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees. With nine different areas of expertise, the faculty offers a diverse and attractive range of courses. This means that our approximately 650 students can be sure that we will provide them with a well-rounded education.
