Social Work

The study programme qualifies you for the different professional fields of social work. After six semesters, you will be able to apply and critically review explanatory and action approaches to social work in a theory-based and practice-oriented way.

During your studies, you will specialise either in social work with children and adolescents or with adults. In addition to the focus on counselling and case management, you will also expand your knowledge of another form of action: group therapy or media design and communication or community work/social space orientation.

You will apply your acquired competences in study and practice projects. Two practical phases are integrated into the study programme. Because the study programme already involves so much practical application, you can shorten the year of professional recognition by up to six months to obtain state recognition.

After graduation, your prospects on the job market are as diverse as your studies were. You can work in all occupational fields of social work (social work/social pedagogy), e.g. working with socially and economically disadvantaged target groups, mentally ill people or with children and young people.

Or you can pursue your academic career further by applying for a Master's programme.

This programme is based on three pillars: practical orientation, areas of specialisation in the different disciplines and internationalisation. A special feature is the socio-spatial orientation of the programme with a focus on rural structures and its excellent networking in the region.
