In the Corona pandemic, 40 students and six teachers from HAWK and the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in Vancouver, Canada designed twelve Tiny Houses around the globe in Australia, Brazil, Finland and Spain. No one left their home country in the process.

The universities made a virtue out of necessity. HAWK and BCIT organized a joint online project, supervised at HAWK by Thomas Kauertz and Pia Danner from the Faculty of Building and Conservation and Prof. Günter Weber from the Faculty of Design. They met via the Zoom video conferencing software and the Miro collaboration platform. Information about the properties was only available via the Internet. Special needs of fictitious clients had to be met. A daily office routine in the digital age with different time zones around the clock was simulated.
