“We offer you a scientifically founded and at the same time practice-oriented education based on the appreciation of human diversity for all occupational fields of social work.”
Prof. Dr. Ingrid Siebrecht

What is this study programme all about?

Above all, it is about solving social problems that communities and individuals have to deal with to an ever-greater extent nowadays.

The study programme covesocialrs the following areas:

  • Basic principles of social work
  • Basic principles of academic writing
  • Framework conditions for social work
  • Types of action, fields of action and projects
  • Studium Generale

In such modules as Case Management, Consulting and Community Work, you will get to know the methods and working principles of social work. Social work does not function in theory only. That's why you apply the knowledge you have acquired directly to a wide range of practical professional study contents, thus combining theory and practice.

What can I do with it later?

As one option, you can continue your studies – at our university we offer you two Master's programmes in Social Work: the Master's programme in Social Work in an International and intercultural context in Hildesheim and the Master's programme in Social Work in a socio-space context in Holzminden.

You can, however, also enter into professional life: There are tasks waiting for you at various workplaces. These include, for example, the youth welfare office or group homes, day care centres and schools, district offices and further education facilities, counselling centres and hospitals and much more.

What makes this study programme special?

Social work is becoming increasingly important: Diversity and human rights play a particularly important role in our society and in the social work study programme. The focus here is on the appreciation of human diversity, social equality, inclusion and the reduction of discrimination.
