“In the dual study programme, you acquire the state examination as a healthcare professional and nurse or paediatric nurse after the 6th semester and the Bachelor's degree in nursing after the 8th semester. Training and studies are closely interlinked. Students of nursing, therapy sciences and medicine learn and work together at an early stage. This creates a competence profile that optimally prepares students for interprofessional cooperation in multiprofessional teams in their later professional lives."
Prof. Christoph Rußmann

A study programme of the Health Campus Göttingen

A co-operation between the HAWK and the UMG.

What is this study programme all about?

The overriding goal is to provide professionally sound and scientifically proven nursing practice at an internationally comparable academic level. Graduates of the dual study programme in nursing are able to:

  • work confidently and methodically on a scientific basis
  • reflect on their own working methods in a theory-driven way and to develop them further for health care
  • participate in research projects
  • adopt a disciplinary perspective and to move confidently and professionally in interprofessional contexts

What can I do with it later?

As a graduate of the dual nursing study programme, you can either work as a nursing specialist with increased career opportunities or take up a job as an employee in nursing counselling, care-related quality/risk management, or nursing research. It is also possible to aspire to an instructor/assistant position in nursing management or the position of care unit/area manager. Based on the Bachelor's degree, a higher qualification is also given within the framework of a Master's degree and a subsequent doctorate.

What makes this study programme special?

Common to all the study programmes offered is academic socialisation across all occupational groups from the very beginning: Training and studies are closely interlinked - all nursing and therapy students learn and work together at an early stage. This creates a competence profile that optimally prepares students for working in multi-professional teams in their future careers and additionally supports their positioning on the job market.
