“Would you like to know how things work? With us you will find out how to develop machines, plants and vehicles to make the world a little lighter, more efficient – and simply better.”
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Manfred Bußmann

What is this study programme all about?

The field of precision engineering ranges from the smallest mechanical components of a few micrometres, e.g. for cameras and Blu-ray players, to high-precision machines in production.

We will train you to become an engineer who has mastered all the necessary methods of mechanical engineering. These include:

  • Comprehensive basic engineering knowledge
  • Calculation using FEM
  • Designing using CAD
  • Production using CAM and CNC technology
  • Production control using modern measuring methods
  • Basics in a wide range of materials

What can I do with it later?

As an engineer, you will be in great demand at both research institutes and companies after completing your studies. Your professional tasks include: development, production, quality assurance and product management.

What makes this study programme special?

Our students report again and again how much they appreciate the part of their studies that prepares them for their future careers. We attach particular importance to this, as well as to the interdisciplinary structure of the programme.

The areas of specialisation in production and design will teach you skills in the fields of materials and plastics technology, development/design/CAD, optical and mechanical manufacturing, assembly, joining and system technology as well as production measurement technology and make sure that you are optimally prepared for professional life.
