Vocational training
“Teacher training combines therapy and educational sciences in the joint BiG programme at HAWK and Uni Hildesheim!“

What is this study programme all about?

This study programme will train you to be able to teach later on. It is our aim to prepare you optimally for the profession of teaching at schools for occupational therapy, speech therapy or physiotherapy by combining competences from the fields of educational sciences and specialist sciences.

You will be professionally trained so that you will be able to master the current and future challenges of this profession.

What can I do with it later?

Your options on the labour market are many and varied. After completing your studies, you can take on a teaching position at a school for occupational therapy, speech therapy or physiotherapy and make an important contribution to your students’ further development and their entry into the working world.

You can also take on therapy sessions for the patients. In addition, your university degree qualifies you to assume management positions at the above-mentioned schools.

What makes this study programme special?

If you have already completed vocational training in one of the professions mentioned in the above, you will receive credit for this towards your studies. So you can be accepted directly in the 4th semester. In order to guarantee you the most comprehensive academic education possible, we also cooperate with the University of Hildesheim Foundation.

Here you will learn the basics in the areas of educational science, didactics, educational psychology and teaching and learning theory. What is also special is the great practical relevance: In two five-week practical phases at our cooperation schools, you will gain your first professional experience, take away important impressions for yourself and your studies, and once you graduate, you will have been trained in all aspects of special subjects in combination with educational science.
