Faculty

In Germany, a faculty is a department or organisational unit at a university or college. Each faculty specialises in particular fields of knowledge. Put simply, a faculty is a group of professors, lecturers and students who are concerned with a specific subject area.

Universities cover a wide variety of subjects, including mathematics, history, physics, literature and so on. Since it would be impossible to teach all these subjects in one place, they are divided into different faculties.
